Experiments & Observations

A collection of experiments and observations cited by flat earth researchers as evidence challenging the globe model. Examine the methodology and results for yourself.

24 hour sun experiment (Duffy & the Gang)
Claim to have gone past 80th south lattitude to quote observe the 24hour sun quote. We here at AetherMatter do not believe this event even for a second, nor do we believe that it went down. However, because people think that it did, would a 24hour sun prove a shape? Nope... Just look at reflective dome properties and looking at the sky does not prove the shape of the ground. period.

Key Points

  • 1Still shots were observed to be AI
  • 2Sun was supposed to be streamed 24/7 (too many lapses in footage)
  • 3Why was exodus road being investigated by homeland security?
  • 4Why were there so many anomolies?

Bedford Level Experiment
Samuel Rowbotham conducted experiments along a six-mile stretch of the Old Bedford River in England, claiming to observe no curvature where 24 feet of drop should have been visible according to the globe model.

Key Points

  • 1Used a telescope at water level to view objects six miles away
  • 2Expected curvature drop: approximately 24 feet
  • 3Claimed observation: Objects visible with no apparent drop
  • 4Repeated by Alfred Russel Wallace with disputed results
Modern
Laser Tests Over Water
Various experiments using lasers over long distances of still water to test for curvature. If Earth curves at 8 inches per mile squared, laser beams should disappear below the horizon over distance.

Key Points

  • 1Laser beams visible far beyond expected curvature cutoff
  • 2Tests conducted on frozen lakes and calm water
  • 3Results often show less drop than predicted
  • 4Atmospheric refraction cited by critics
Modern
High Altitude Balloon Footage
Amateur high-altitude balloon launches with cameras, examining footage for horizon curvature and comparing results from fish-eye vs flat lenses.

Key Points

  • 1Fish-eye lenses create artificial curve
  • 2Flat/rectilinear lenses show less curvature
  • 3Debate over lens distortion effects
  • 4Analysis of horizon at various altitudes
Modern
Long Distance Photography
Photographs of distant objects (mountains, buildings, landmarks) visible from distances where they should be hidden by Earth's curvature.

Key Points

  • 1Chicago skyline visible from 60 miles across Lake Michigan
  • 2Mount Rainier visible from distances exceeding curvature calculations
  • 3Superior mirage and refraction explanations contested
  • 4Documentation of numerous long-distance observations
Modern
Gyroscope and Level Tests
Experiments using precision gyroscopes and levels on long-distance travel to detect supposed curvature and rotation of Earth.

Key Points

  • 1Ring laser gyroscopes detect rotation
  • 2Flat earth interpretation: detecting celestial rotation
  • 3Level tests on aircraft and vehicles
  • 4Debate over what gyroscopes actually measure
Ongoing
Perspective and Vanishing Point Studies
Analysis of how objects appear to sink below the horizon and whether this is due to curvature or the laws of perspective on a flat plane.

Key Points

  • 1Zooming in brings 'sunken' ships back into view
  • 2Study of angular resolution limits of the human eye
  • 3Comparison of curvature model vs perspective model
  • 4Analysis of sunset and sunrise angles
